Week 7: May 13th - May 17th

Seventh Week
The tense truce that had covered Cartesio was over. The town, feeling betrayed after having given a chance to the outsiders, pushed back. Enraged, they started getting even more daring, starting to get into the tourists' only safe haven: their motel rooms. They don't manage to break in, but it's not unusual to hear thumping on the doors, someone trying to get in. The windows are almost perpetually broken, there's so much graffiti on the ground floor of the motel, both inside and outside, it's hard to know what each one is saying. Can't be anything good, that's the only thing that's certain. The lounge's furniture has been tore to pieces, the lobby only has the guestbook intact, and the planters in middle of the motel are broken, the soil and plants strewn around.

The residents of Cartesio are near their breaking point. The despair, fury, and desire to get rid of the outsiders so everyone can return to their peaceful lives, have covered the town. It won't take long before they reach their breaking point, and if they do...what will happen to the visitors?

The Sergeant's grip on the town is total, and next week is the one marked as END. It seems like there's no way out, like the Sergeant won.

But you can't lose hope. You have to remember: now that you're on your darkest hour, the only way lef to go is upwards. Things can get better, you have to make it happen!

In the lobby of the motel there's a few more brochures, and the maps have been updated once again. Don't mind that some of them have been damaged in one of the attacks on the motel.

You were?

]Oh my god can they actually be made to channel their energies in ways that don't involve building embarrassing shit in the park?? He's going inside her room and shutting the door closed behind him.]

How? What're they saying?

Last week on Thursday I carved words into the walls of Nine's room.

[She'll pick up the pad of paper again, writing out: "Sarge's plan might involve dead townspeople + tourists" with dots along each angle in the characters.]

I also made deep stab marks on all of the angles, since I wasn't sure what would count as "damage" for a "damage transfer." It looks like it worked.

[And nodding to the wall again, message displayed.]

[...Ah, so that's what "damage transfers" was about. Though in that context he has to wonder what the fuck is going on with Olympia and her freaking arms if they're somehow able to use her spare limbs as material to send over to their side of things. For now, he shelves the thought.

He glances at the wall as Kino indicates it, brow furrowed.

How far did you get in figuring this one out?

[A beat.]

There a reason you didn't try just carving in whole letters? They seem to be able to do that just fine.

I did carve out the letters. The stab marks were just to make sure. But if they copied me and only the indents came through, maybe it's a good thing I did that... it might mean carving the letters doesn't work.

[But as for the figuring it out part, she just gestures to the lines drawn between the dots. Take a look yourself, Keith.]

[There's a pause.]

Letters do get through though. [A beat.] Not all of them, but I'm pretty sure Millium scratched "EET" on my ceiling.

[He'll glance back over at Kino's handiwork, contemplating.]

And have you seen that stuff at the park?
quickpersuader: (turns into a cloud)

[personal profile] quickpersuader 2018-11-18 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
What stuff at the park?

[Please describe it to her in painstaking detail.]

[personal profile] marmoron 2018-11-18 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
....The fort and the statue. They look like they're made out Olympia's arms.
quickpersuader: (Because we can)

[personal profile] quickpersuader 2018-11-18 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
A fort... and a statue?

[What.]
marmoron: marmoron (cold look)

[personal profile] marmoron 2018-11-18 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
The point is the dead are building crap out of Olympia's arms and sending it here somehow.

How do you figure that works if you're thinking about damage transfers?
quickpersuader: (so the Beautiful World....)

[personal profile] quickpersuader 2018-11-18 05:36 am (UTC)(link)
[Huh.]

Maybe that information wasn't entirely correct?
