Week 3 - April 20th

Week 3: Investigation

This week's cloudy, dreary weather culminates in a thunderstorm, lasting most of the previous night. That means when you awake this morning, the town is damp and dark. It's not just the weather that gives off an oppressive feeling, though. The air, it's heavy.

The Sergeant told you, after all. This is your last day to prevent your deepest, darkest secrets from being revealed.

There's no immediate evidence that anyone's followed his orders, though. Maybe you'll get through this week without anymore unnecessary death.

Or, maybe not. Maybe you should take a look around town, just to be sure.

[ In general, the ground has been very disturbed. Like the chapel, there's no way to tell footprints, as the rain's made a mess of it all, but there are a few points where it's a little more clear, if you'd like to look into those. ]

[Alright. Any way to estimate weight or size from those bits?]

[ None. Just their locations. ]

[Well then, what are those locations?]

[ The first is a deep indent, right behind the destroy grave. ]

[Hm. Does it look like a piece of gravestone fell there or what?]

[ Hard to say. The rain's washed away a lot. All you can tell is, something pressed into the ground with some force. ]

[Alright never fear Juggy’s here lets get down into that mud. What kind of surface area are we talking for this?]

[ Looking at the one by the gravestone, it's a small surface area. Like, smaller than your own foot. The indent's the most clear thing here to note, but it's still, well, muddy, if you'll pardon the pun. It's hard to tell if it's always been small, or if it was worn away by the rain. ]

Any clue to what could’ve made that around here?]

Not really. There's some bits of gravestone, so it might've been that? But, like so much else today...it's hard to tell. ]

[Hm. Hm.

Is the depth noteworthy at all? And where are the other indents?]

[ The depth isn't that noteworthy, no.

The other indents are a few feet from the grave, closer to the chapel. They're all close together, but there's a collection of them. ]

[Boy oh boy. What kind of arrangement are we talking here?]

[ You're going to hate this. It's your favorite answer. It's hard to tell. In this case, though, that seems important? There are a lot of them, and you can tell enough...they seem to indicate movement. What direction, you can't say. ]

[Are they all that small-but-indeterminate size as the previous indent?]

[ You can't say. Some of them look around the same size, but some look just a little bigger. ]

[Looking at all this mud is really putting a damper on his usual cheery disposition, any more indents or anything else special about them?]

[ Nope! You have found all there is to find, buddy. Take a load off in the diner and think aobut all this. ]

[Yeah gonna go grab a chocolate milkshake after all this.]
