EXECUTION

At dawn, two culprits were sentenced to death, and for that, there’d be two executioners. How would it go?

At the usual time, Kino and Wayne are escorted into the execution room and cell area, where Rose and Frasier are awaiting. Even though they have no bindings or handcuffs, they’re awaiting, almost immobile. Kino and Wayne look at each other before Kino steps forward, receiving a gun from the Sergeant.

Anyone watching the execution will see how Kino and Rose enter the room. Rose doesn’t seem very worried; she stands in middle of the room. Even though she got caught and is about to die, she puts a hand on the electric chair, as if she needed it to stand. Kino confronts her, nodding at Rose, an agreement they had made beforehand would be done: she would execute Rose in a quick and painless way. Perhaps like Oda did? Or like Millium did? Rose had no way to know, but she hoped it was going to be over very soon.

“I’m feeling kind of hasty today. Let’s get this done quickly, okay?” said the Sergeant. Both Kino and Wayne nodded, as if this was something they had agreed beforehand with the Sergeant. “One minute. Go!”

Measuredly, taking her time, Kino raised the pistol, while Rose closed her eyes. She expected a bullet, maybe a second of pain, and then it’d be over. That’s why she didn’t expect the bullet that passed through her chest. Her eyes opened, tears filling it immediately, she opened her mouth to ask what was going on when another two pierced her. She couldn’t even look down; she couldn’t see how the bullets had hit her the same way she had shot Jughead. Kino, with superb aim, had imitated what she had seen on Jughead.

“Oh. That’s weird. I missed” she said, not even blinking. Before Rose even had time to react, Kino shot for a fourth time, this time hitting Rose right in the head, the execution had been done. Rose didn’t fall, instead she fell against the chair. Without missing a beat, Kino turned around, throwing the gun upwards, towards the ceiling, the gun twirling, going up and staying in the air.

“Wayne!”

The Sergeant pushed Wayne forward, Wayne didn’t even need that, he was already running into the execution room, passing beside Kino stepping out of the room. Wayne barely had time to process the scene when he was running forward, noting three things in an instant: one, Rose was gone. Two, a very confused Frasier was right in front of the electric chair. The third and last one was that the gun was falling.

With remarkable agility and strength, Wayne grunted and raised a leg, jumping and smashing a knee against the side of Frasier’s neck, throwing him onto the floor. The psychiatrist one moment was seeing Wayne running towards him, the next he was lying on the floor, the base of his skull throbbing with pain where he was hit. All he could see was Wayne’s legs while the young man extended a hand upwards, catching the gun while it descended. With ease, he aimed the gun at Frasier and shot, not even bothering to give him a moment to realize he was about to die.

The man collapsed onto the floor, hit by the bullet. Even with his haste, his executioner had managed to make a perfect shot, killing him instantly, much more merciful than how Kino did it yet with the same underlying vitriol she had. While Wayne shook his head, muttering under his breath, and glanced at the Sergeant, who was looking at his clock. “One minute. Good job, you two”

Neither Kino nor Wayne seemed happy to be congratulated over this, it was more like both had a faint feeling of catharsis – they hadn’t done a good thing, but it was what the culprits deserved, after Jughead had died in such a horrible manner. Without further comment, Wayne tossed the pistol at the Sergeant, who caught it in one hand without even looking, and entered the room. Frasier’s prone body was already gone when he went in.
